Making extra money by adding a footer to your RSS Feed

Most blogger don’t take advantage of this extra real estate that you already own, including myself. If your goal is to monetize your blog, this is one practice that you SHOULD use on all your blogs.

Why is this important? Like most bloggers I read through 10–20 blogs on a daily basis, but I don’t visit every site to read them, a quick scan through all the RSS pulled in on my iGoogle (about 5 via email) allows me to decide which new post deserves my attention first!

By reading just the RSS feed, I just avoid all the advertisements on these blogs. Out of the 20 or so RSS feeds that I subscribe to, I’ve only seen 1 feed that actually monetize the real estate space on their RSS footer, and that’s John Chow.

What can you do with your RSS footer?

  • Copyright information
  • Sponsor ads
  • FeedBurner users (now that they’ve been acquired by Google, you can add your AdSense ad in the footer area)
  • Showcase other blogs that you have
  • Contest information
  • Pre-sale of anything that you might be working on

How do you add a footer to your RSS feed? After a few searches I’ve found 3 WordPress Plugins through (Daily Blog Tip) I was only able to RSS Signature to work properly, but the other 2 plugins seems to offer a little bit more functionality, so I would give them all a try and use the one that suites your needs.

  1. RSS Signature
  2. PostPost
  3. Better Feed

Let me know how these plugins work out for you!

Merry Almost Christmas…

I hope everyone is starting to relax as Christmas is right around the corner. I’ll be honest, the past few weeks I’ve been slacking a little bit, December is one of my laziest month, I just want to shop, eat and .. well be lazy!

When January rolls around that’s when my best work are done! Why? Because the credit card bills are rolling in! This year I’m looking forward to January because of the test I’ve ran the past few weeks (Google Assassin and Build A Niche Store). I was not expecting any results until sometime in January because like most people I don’t have thousands of dollars or even hundreds of dollars to run multiple campaigns. But I’m excited to say here’re some results!!

7 days after the launch of my first Build A Niche Store (auctionyap.com) I ran a small campaign via Adcenter (MSN) after 3,000+ impressions and 27 clicks for some very low budget specific model number keywords…

Not the hundred grand I was looking forward to, but for 30 minutes of work.. but 2 sales after 27 clicks is very promising! Next step to add more store and run add a few more campaign!

Using Google Assassin I was just as happy to report that using the first method in the system I was able to generate some income from ClickBank in less then 3 weeks.

Clickbank

These results are nothing to brag about, and that’s not what I’m about. I hope these posts will spark some ideas and if you can brin in an extra $100–$200 a week just repeat and duplicate!!

Merry Christmas and look for some great contest updates the next few days.

Make sure you check out this great blog: The Big Bald Blog and his awesome contest for a free iTouch

Here’s How to Get All Your Google AdWords Pay-Per-Clicks FREE!

Monday!

Well this weekend went by really fast, I was looking forward to my New York Jets upset the Pats but that didn’t happen.  I saw a post on John Chow (the passionate blogger) today that got me thinking!   Do I love what I do?  Do you?   I guess I’ve never realized how one would consider this ‘hard work’.

I have this little cartoon from ToothPasteforDinner.com that reminds me how lucky I am everyday.

My-dream-has-finally-come-true

I’m glad that is not me!  I think the day I consider this ‘hard work’ is the day I’ll stop doing it.   I’ll admit that MOST of the things I’ve tried on the web doesn’t work, but I chalk it up as another lesson learned.

This was me 3 years ago, pimpin it and living the life….93

This is where I live today… Not where I want to be
Leak 005

But I keep trying and lean from the mistakes that I’ve made and move on.  The most important thing I’ve learn in the 36 years on this planet is that life is full of ups and downs, and if you can keep your focus on where you WANT to go, you’ll get there and the trip there won’t be that ‘hard’!

Build a Niche Store - BANS, Yes it’s making me money!

Bans2 weeks ago Shoemoney blogged about Build a Niche Store (or BANS as the die hard fan of the script calls it).  I was very impressed with the site and what the script had to offer. But sinceI had so many eBooks to go through I just didn’t want to think about it at all!  Besides spending another $97 right before Christmas just wasn’t an option!

Well 2 week passed and as I was going through the first few chapters of Day Job Killer, one of the described methods by Chris sparked an idea!

Without going through the details, the basic PPC idea was to go after some micro niche keywords that is less competitive, or a specific product name or model numbers.  Well, as I continue to read, I kept thinking that would be a great idea for a starter like me who doesn’t have a large PPC budget…  But where do I find an affiliate program for or these micro niche products that I can send these highly targeted traffic to?  and BAM!  Thanks to Shoemoney,  I thought of BANS (as I will call it from now on).

So what’s the cliff notes on this?  1st, you’ll have to go and read up on how Build a Niche Store works.  If you already know what it does, then using the micro niche technique you run a campaign with link to your store for that very specific product!

How long does it take to get it up and running?  I did these 2 store, each took about 30 mins (that includes the header design and template editing)

Auction-yapKidazystore

Using AuctionYap.com as an example, rather then me running a campaign that will make my budget ‘gone in 60 seconds’  What I tried was creating PPC campaigns specifically with just the model number of the product.  Impressions and click troughs were low, BUT! the click troughs are landing on a page specifically for that product built by Build A Niche Store script.

So what’s the result?  Initial testing of my campaign  through AdCenter (and it was VERY small) for a specific model of a smart phone.

  • 5 specific keywords bought
  • 823 impressions and 27 click troughs
  • cost $8.10
  • Earned $25 Commission

I will bump up my campaign a little more and see if the trend continues or I just got lucky.  Meanwhile I’ve planed to build a few more niche stores and give it a try in other micro niches.

You can get more details about Build A Niche Store here, and if you want to check out the stores I build so far  Auction Yap and Kidazy Store (for my girlfriend’s blog) check them out and make sure you buy something, it’s Christmas!!

Entrecard, instant traffic

I’ll keep this one short because there’re about a million EntreCard reviews out there already.

LogoLast week I read a post on John Chow’s blog about EntreCard, and how you can get a free banner on his site.   What?! Free ad on John Chow’s blog?  I’m so there!!  At first I wasn’t sure about the whole service (ok I was confused) but after installing it on one of my other blogs (TrendSquad.com) I was HOOKED!  I spend about 2 hours clicking other people’s cards as well as dropping my own (hint: the more you drop the more credits you get, and it will also attract others members to visit your site and drop their cards.)

It’s been about a week since I put up the EntreCard code on TrendSquad.com and it is actually getting about 120 clicks a day from all the advertisers I got with my free credits!  So I figure it’s about time I add them to all of my blogs.

Trendsquad

One complaint I do have is, you have to set up one account per blog and that can get a little bit confusing.  According to the EntreCard forum, they’ll implement multiple blog accounts down the road, but I’m gonna jump on this now and get my free traffic now!

Another Hint:  This screen shot below was taken less then a minute after an account was setup for WeblogMoney.com.  It shows 4 advertisers was ready to buy a spot on my blog at 2 credit ( the price of your advertisement will increase as more people drop their card at your site)  So don’t be so fast to accept these advertisements, unless you’re happy with 2 free credits!
