I was watching a program a few weeks ago and they were researching social behavior in low income neighborhoods vs. medium/high income neighborhoods.

The children in lower income and medium/high income neighborhoods were asked to make a neighborhood out of cardboard, crayons, etc. The low income children neighborhoods consisted of buildings and stores with people inside the windows and shops, and little figures outside playing. The medium/high income children drew houses and stores with no people anywhere. They said that lower income children had no money for activities and no parks to play that’s why they drew more people in the streets and the medium/high income children didn’t have people because they had more structured activities indoors out of public site.
I have a different theory. I’ve lived in low-income neighborhoods for the majority of my life and noticed that when you don’t have a lot of money. You tend to play with other children, because you can’t afford video games, computers, cellphones, etc. so you tend to be more social out in your neighborhoods. My nephews grew up in the suburbs they don’t really go outside to play because they are always wrapped up in video games, movies, computer games, etc. They don’t socialize because material things keep them entertained.
